Jackson came from the gym and headed back to his apartment. He spotted the text message from Chase before heading to the shower. The pack was getting together, it said. Sure, he could go for that. He needed to let off some steam in a major way. He needed to find a way to keep his mind occupied. Since that night, he had not been able to stop thinking about Alex. Sure, there was still a major amount of unresolved tension between them, but with every moment that passed the tension became something more.

He stepped into the shower letting the hot water run over his body, tense and hard from his recent work out. He needed to shift. He needed to hunt and run and feel the wildness of the night running through his blood. He closed his eyes and stepped into the water. All he saw was Alex. Her white-blonde hair, red lips, tan skin. His body burned with desire, and he could not stop his racing thoughts.

He reached out to the water handle, turning it slowly from the hot to cold. Jackson gritted his teeth as the water cooled around him gradually going from bearable, growing colder and colder until his body shivered against the icy water. By the time he stepped out, five minutes later, he nearly felt back to himself again. He wrapped the towel around his waist, picked up his phone and dialed Chase.

“Where we headed?” he asked.

“We’ve got to head out to the dig site. Max and the boys are meeting us out there. We need to set a perimeter to incorporate the territories. Even if it is just temporary.”

“Yep. That sounds good.”

“Oh, and Jacks. You should know, Cindy’s coming along.”

“That’s fine. She’s been on scouts with us before.”

“She’s bringing Alex with her.”

“Oh, that’s cool.”

“Jacks, I can hear your thoughts. Remember?”

“Yeah, remind me to ask Max if there’s a way to turn that off on occasion.”

“I’d be glad to. We’re meeting at the trail head.”

“Alright, see you there.”

He hung up the phone, running the towel over his hair. “This could be a problem,” he muttered.
